NASPA approached Adpearance seeking a comprehensive overhaul of their online presence. Counting over 13,000 student affairs professionals as members, NASPA desired a website where members could connect and discuss current events, key issues, and changes to their industry. Following the launch on the first day, more than 700 members had logged in to begin using the site. By the of the week, more than 3000 had logged in.
In my role as Lead Designer on the project, I collaborated with our planning team to create a detailed content map and site plan for the new architecture for what has become the largest and most extensive site I’ve worked on, its functionality including ecommerce, an event calendar, multiple blogs, member and user personalization, content hidden behind a paywall, social media integration, and hundreds of contributing editors.
Combining the latest in responsive front-end development and a fresh, new aesthetic, I led the front-end development of the site with several teammates from Adpearance. I’m proud to say I only created two Photoshop comps of the site in total; design was done primarily in-browser so as to build a mobile-first site. Noting the scale of such a huge content site, I also developed and designed a comprehensive style library chronicling all used classes, SASS variables, and patterns.
